Environment Impact Assessment is required for any project before start of construction, if a project meets any of the criteria as laid down in the Schedule of notification S.O. 1533E dated 14.9.06 [http://www.envfor.nic.in/legis/eia/so1533.pdf] by Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India. As per this notification, projects that fall in Category-A of the schedule are cleared at the level of MoEF and those that fall in Category-B are cleared at the level of State Environment Impact Assessment Authorities (SEIAA). In case no SEIAA is notified by MoEF, than all category of projects shall be cleared by MoEF. The SEIAA are duly notified for the States of Punjab , Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
The Construction Projects for Environmental Clearance fall under two categories- Category 8(a) Building and Construction projects and Category 8(b) Townships and Area Development projects. No environmental clearance is required if Built-up area of the project is less than 20000 square meter (sq.m) for Category 8(a) and if project area is less than 50 hectare and built up area is less than 1,50,000 sq.m for Category-8(b). Clearance from SEIAA is required for the Category-8(a) projects if the built-up area is between 20,000-1,50,000 sq.m and if it exceeds 1,50,000 sq.m than clearance is required from MoEF. No Public Hearing is required for Category-8(a) Projects.

Consent Management: The Eco provides all guidance to its clients in Consent Management. No objection for Establishment and Consent to operate may be required by all construction projects and industries under any or all of the following environmental Acts:
1. The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, amended 1988
2. The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981, amended 1987
3. Hazardous Wastes (Management and Handling) Amendment Rules, 2003
State Pollution Control Boards have different set of forms, fees structures and procedural requirements for grant of NOC to establish and Consent to operate.
